Going to school on a Saturday is not easy. You get really irritable and feel angry at the administrators for scheduling a replacement class on a Saturday. You are so used to it being a holiday, a time to laze around and sleep longer. It takes a lot of motivation to fight against the usual - fight against what has become a "habit" .
But a habit is something you build on. You can change it. First of all, you must believe that you can. You must believe that it is possible to change your attitude, provided that you are willing to allow the change to take place. Without first opening up and working on changing your mindset, you will not be able to change the way you behave.
As Allah says in the Quran:
"...Verily, Allah will not change the (good) condition of a people as long as they do not change their state (of goodness) themselves.."
(translation from Surah Ar-Rad', verse 11)
When we have decided deep within our hearts that we want to improve ourselves, we must work towards our goal in the best way possible. It is odd to think that we think smart of different strategies and work hard everyday to make money but when it comes to changing values and attitudes, we expect "miracles".
The science behind how the world functions expects us to WORK to make changes. In simple laws of Physics, mechanical work = amount of energy transferred by a Force acting through a distance. So, we cannot sit around, do nothing and expect ourselves to change for the better.
Try giving some time and effort to work on improving ourselves and also the people around us to make the change that we desire.
At all times, humbly pray that Allah gives us the strength to want what is good and guide us always in the path to success.
" Verily, this (Verses od the Quran) is an admonition, so whoever wills, let him take a path to his Lord (Allah). [29]
But you cannot will, unless Allah wills. Verily, Allah is Ever All-Knowing, All-Wise." [30]
(translations from Surah Al-Insan, verse 29 -30)
