Even if an experienced doctor has attended and did the necessary interventions to save a life, when the time has come a person dies anyway. It is not rare for those in medical field to be in shock that a seemingly benign condition deteriorates and leads to death. Even more often, those dealing with patients will find themselves in awe when a patient anticipated to deteriorate and pass away miraculously becomes healthy and is discharged well.
We spent so much of our time preparing and planning our life but how much of our time do we dedicate in planning and preparing for the inevitable death and the life after?
Even though we know for sure that the life after is the ever-lasting life.
"وَمَا جَعَلْنَا لِبَشَرٍ مِّن قَبْلِكَ الْخُلْدَ أَفَإِن مِّتَّ فَهُمُ الْخَالِدُونَ"
And We granted not to any human being immortality before you (O Muhammad SAW), then if you die, would they live forever?
"كُلُّ نَفْسٍ ذَائِقَةُ الْمَوْتِ وَنَبْلُوكُم بِالشَّرِّ وَالْخَيْرِ فِتْنَةً وَإِلَيْنَا تُرْجَعُونَ"
(Surah al-Anbiya' : verse 34-35)
Alhamdulillah, these past few days has been thinking a lot about life and death.
Many dreams are made for this wordly life. Of course, it is not wrong. There is nothing wrong if we want happiness and achievements in our lives, then we work in the right way approved by Allah to achieve our dreams and we pray that Allah the Owner of all things grants our wishes.
Only that we need to always remember to have dreams and aims for the hereafter.
We have to be careful that our hearts do not fall prey to the evil illness called "al-wahn" (love for the world and scared of death);
We have to wish more for forgiveness from Allah, for His blessings and for the beautiful jannah as our home. And..we have to work harder and pray harder for these wishes.
May Allah protect us all and grant all our wishes for this dunia and the everlasting akhirah. Ameen.
